Greywacke Wild Sauvignon Blanc Plantagenet Mount Baker Shiraz 2008 Charles Smith Kung Fu Girl Riesling
The Greywacke Wild Sauvignon Blanc, from Marlborough New Zealand, is made by Kevin Judd, previous Cloudy Bay wine maker. It's an alternative style of Sauvignon full of lemon curd, vanilla custard, a touch of dried herbs and a lingering grapefruit finish. A sumptuous, textural Shiraz, with layered complexity and long berry flavours coated with lingering spicy cherry flavours. This Charles Smith Kung Fu Girl Riesling from Washington State wine kicks ass with tons of complexity, showing notes of white peach, Linden leaves and slate. Lovely focused acidity, finishing very long with mandarin orange and lots of minerality.
Grosset Polish Hill Clare Valley Riesling 2012 Gnarly Head Viognier Dandelion Vineyards Pride of the Fleurieu
This Riesling is uber-concentrated, steely and zingy showing flowery aromatics and shaley minerality. The Gnarly Head Viognier from California emanates fragrant aromas of white peach, honeysuckle and citrus blossom. On the palate, refreshing fruit flavors of peach, white nectarine and guava enhance the delicate, tropical aromatics. The Dandelion Vineyards' Pride of the Fleurieu Cabernet Sauvignon shows scented blueberries and hints of cassis over dark fruitcake-like fruits and spicy cedar, blackberries and cream. It is rich, deep and full-flavoured with blueberry, black plums and red berry flavours.
Vesevo Aglianico John Duval Plexus 2011 Gnarly Head Authentic White
The Vesevo Beneventano Aglianis a brooding wine with rich aromas of chocolate, mocha and ripe black cherries. The intense, savoury palate balances the weighty fruit with the ripe, supple tannins beautifully and finishes on a long, smoky, chocolate note. A medium bodied textural wine with flavours of mandarin, pear and Asian spice that gives way to a crisp citrus finish. The Gnarly Head Authentic White from California is a tasty blend of Riesling, Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. It's lush and juicy on the palate with aromas of pear, green apple and honeysuckle and flavors of melon and nectarine with a zesty citrus finish.
Gnarly Head Petite Syrah Raats Original Chenin Blanc Nyetimber Classic Cuvee English Sparkling 2007/8
The Gnarly Head Petite Syrah from California starts with aromas of blueberry pie, nutmeg and pepper. In the mouth, flavors expand to include boysenberry, plum, blueberry and spice. Jammy from beginning to end this big wine is anything but “petite.” So fresh and inviting with lovely sweet pea and grass florals alongside soft notes of ripe nectarine and melon. The prickly mouth is loaded with orange oil citrus and a hint of banana unfolds on the long finish. Soft and elegant in the mouth with lingering citrus and baked pastry flavours.
